Help build a safe, supportive space for women and girls. We are looking for volunteers to train as advocates and moderators and help with social media, or let us know how you want to contribute.
We are looking for volunteers
NIVA relies on volunteers to support other girls and women who are dealing with harmful sexual experiences. You can contribute whatever skills you have, by training as a volunteer supporter, creating social media content, moderating the forum, or offering your professional skills as a lawyer or therapist.
Types of volunteering:
Social media content creation
Can you create social media content to raise awareness and help other girls and women find support for sexual harm? Join the group of people spreading our message on social media.
Peer supporters
Train to provide advice to people who message NIVA’s help service asking for support for their experiences. You will advise them about their options for accessing resources, professional support, or reporting, in a kind and supportive way. You will be trained for this role.
Legal advocates
Advocates represent and support victims who want to report a crime to the police or other services, meaning that they do not have to go alone. They also help reduce the fear of being treated unfairly in the legal process. We are looking for law students and qualified lawyers for this role. Specialised training will be provided.
Therapists
If you are a qualified and practicing therapist or therapy student, you can volunteer as much or as little time as you have to help support girls and women dealing with the consequences of harmful sexual experiences.
Moderators
Once NIVA’s community forum launches, we will need moderators to help keep the forum a safe place for everyone. You can contribute as much or little time as you want and training will be provided.
